The Leopard

Anna Rollins, Writer

Anna Rollins is a sophomore at East High School who enjoys reading and writing. She is the youngest of three siblings, with an older sister and brother. She also has a shih tzu named Lulu. She was born in Orange County, New York, on November 14th, 2006. After two years she and her family moved to the city. In 2012, they moved to Seattle Washington, where they lived for 4 ½ years before moving to their current home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Anna and her family love to travel, and they try to do it as much as they can. Some of the favorite places that they've been to are Europe, New York City, where they try to go as much as possible, and places with lots of nature, even if it’s just up Cottonwood Canyon. Anna hopes to go to many places in her lifetime such as Australia, New Zealand, Greece, and Sweden. She loves learning about the culture of other people in different places and travelling enables her to learn more.

Anna has always loved playing sports; she did ballet for two years, gymnastics for three, soccer for five, and has done many other things such as learning to ride a unicycle, use roller skates, and ride a bike. She enjoys competition and pushing herself to be the best she can, and she hardly ever settles for less.

Anna enjoys playing video games, drawing, and reading in her free time. She also plays d&d with her friends. Her favorite book series is Cruel Prince by Holly Black, and her favorite tv show is Reign. She also plays tennis and is on the East High Women’s Tennis team and loves musical theatre. Anna loves everything that has a fandom; Marvel, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, the  and more.

She is very interested in psychology and wants to major in it in college, preferably at Columbia university, where her father studied. She loves learning about the way that people think and how small actions can affect someone else’s train of thought. She also loves understanding why people interact and react in the ways that they do. Because of her love of psychology she enjoys crime shows such as Criminal Minds and NCIS. You can often find her listening to true crime podcasts in her free time.

Anna also loves mythology, specifically Greek and Norse. She loves learning about the different gods, monsters, and myths that are in those mythologies. Her favorite Greek god is Hermes and her favorite myth is the one about Medusa, where essentially Medusa was a very beautiful maiden, and was taken advantage of by Poseidon at Athena's temple. Due to the fact that Poseidon was more powerful than Athena, she couldn’t do anything to punish him for his actions, and instead she blessed Medusa with the power to defend herself from men by giving her the power to turn them to stone. Many other versions of this myth state that Medusa was punished by Athena, but this version is Anna’s favorite because of the way that Athena helps her. Anna’s favorite Norse god is Loki, the god of mischief, because of his likeable personality and shapeshifting abilities.
