Everyone’s heard Donald Trump’s preposterous claims and ideas, but what will Trump actually do for our country and the people living here? For starters, he wants to make a large tax break for the top 1% and wants to stop sending money to China in the form of debt payments. But where does all the debt go? It doesn’t just disappear, it’ll be dumped on later generations unlike what Trump seems to think. Not only does he want to deny China the money, he also wants to start taxing China “until they behave properly.” Simply put, it is a horrible idea and it isn’t going to work. China has the upper-hand and the U.S. can’t start trying to seem like it’s never heard of “debt” in its life. As of September 2016, the U.S. debt to China is $18 trillion dollars. Does Trump really think that China is going to forget how much we owe if we stop sending over money?

This world runs on money, a fact that Donald Trump shouldn’t so often disregard. If Trump cuts taxes and doesn’t send money over to China, how horrible is the economy going to be in 10 years? 20 years? He believes he’s an economic genius, “the king of debt,” – but doesn’t he remember going bankrupt six times? This country will be swimming in debt before half of his term is over.

Not only does Donald Trump cause problems in America’s economy, he also causes a lot of problems for the minorities of this country. “No group in America has been more harmed by Hillary Clinton’s policies than African-Americans,” Trump said at a rally on August 19. But he added to his consistent racist stereotyping at the same rally when he made the claim about black Americans saying, “You live in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs, 58 percent of your youth is unemployed.”

Continuing on that cruelly generalizing statement, in a book written by former Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino President John R. O’Donnell in 1991, it states that, “Laziness is a trait in blacks.”

Donald Trump has also made the infamous claim that the immigrants from Mexico are “rapists,” rightly angering Mexican Americans. He hopes to send immigrants back to the country they immigrated from, a job that would cost roughly $400-600 billion and 20 years to complete – a far cry from the two years he boasted. Trump’s words are a catch-22, because if he stops taxes, where are we going to find the money we would need for deportation? That isn’t even the worst part. Think about the families that would be broken up and the people that will get mistakenly deported. It would shrink the U.S.’s work force by 11 million people. No one would do the hard jobs, the ones that we don’t want to do. We wouldn’t have anyone wanting to work in factories or plants.

Donald Trump belittles the efforts of civil rights group Black Lives Matter, saying that, “The fact is, all lives matter…” This sort of statement erases the years of oppression and anger aimed towards African-Americans. That statement wipes away the trials and fights of police brutality, racism, segregation, and slavery. It wipes away the names of the 194 black people shot and killed by police in 2016 (as of August). Black Lives Matter isn’t about blacks being better than whites. It’s about raising awareness of the struggles of African-Americans even in the 21st century.

After an African-American protester was physically attacked after chanting, “Black lives matter!” at a Trump rally last November, Trump said, “Maybe he should have been roughed up. It was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.” He simply doesn’t understand the way his words affect others.

Two brothers arrested for beating up a homeless Latino man said, “Donald Trump was right – all these illegals need to be deported.” Surprisingly, Donald didn’t even try to unstain his name or distance himself from the act of violence, instead stating, “I will say that the people who are following me are very passionate.” He reported that the brothers were well-intentioned and had gotten carried away. How could you get carried away enough to physically attack someone with a metal pipe?

He’s openly racist, and openly sexist. He wants a “form of punishment” for women wanting an abortion. Not only is that cruel, Trump isn’t a woman. Trump doesn’t understand what it would be like to have to carry an unwanted child, or bring a child into the world that wouldn’t have a functioning life due to poverty or diseases like the Zika virus.

Arianna Huffington, Huffington Post editor and co-founder, has been repeatedly insulted by Trump. One of the definite low blows was when Trump reported, “Ariana Huffington is unattractive, both inside and out. I fully understand why her former husband left her for a man – he made a good decision.” That statement angered Arianna and the LGBTQIA+ community as well, and rightly so. This man wants to be President of our country, but he somehow thinks it’s a good idea to slam on a reporter’s divorce.

In addition to Trump hating women, he also degrades them. “I think the only difference between me and the other candidates is that I’m more honest and my women are more beautiful.” That statement is demeaning, and it shows how he thinks of women as inanimate objects to be used for his pleasure.

“You’re disgusting.” Trump said when the opposing lawyer of a case was denied her request for a medical break to breast feed her three-month-old and pulled out her pump.

This is real. The election is in a couple of months; this is actually happening. His running for election is not a joke, no one is going to yell, “Surprise!” and start a whole new election. As has been previously stated, Trump is racist to no end. He’s sexist, treating women like inanimate objects. What does that truly mean for our country? It means that Trump won’t care what happens to minorities. He doesn’t care – doesn’t even pretend to care. When police brutality goes up, when rape statistics go up, when the U.S. is falling apart at the seams, do you think Donald Trump will care? Ask yourself, will he protect and better our country, or board himself up in the White House with his money and the nuclear launch codes?

Donald Trump will be causing -is currently causing- so many problems for the people of the United States and it will only get worse.
