Earlier Friday morning two Refugee boats from Turkey sank off the coast of Greece. Over forty people died with seventeen of them being children. Almost 34.000 refugees have entered Europe this month by land or by sea. More than 60 million refugees are leaving their home country many reasons. All of these refugees have been leaving home everyday and the numbers are not slowing down.

These refugees are going across the ocean, deserts, and many other places to find safety. Most of the Syrian refugees are going across the Mediterranean Sea.  It is a very dangerous passage with half of them drowning or getting illnesses and dying. There have been a lot of refugees who make it and then what do they do? They try to go into different countries and make a new home there. Many of the countries have not been letting them in because they don’t want immigrants in their country. These countries have been putting up walls to keep them out. Many even die at the gate and the patrols that are guarding them from entering the gate don’t help.

Why are there 60 million refugees leaving their home country? What is worse than drowning, dying waiting to be given aid, or losing your family? Simply, they are under attack.  Their homes are in ruins.  They can’t earn a living or provide for their family. They do not want to be somewhere where they are being treated badly. Yet, what are they finding when they arrive in the safe country?
